Shop Rate is free for every technician and always will be. Running it isn't free, though. Every month there are bills for servers, data, and the work of keeping it all accurate. If Shop Rate helped you dodge a bad shop or find a good one, you can chip in to help cover those costs. It's completely optional.

What contributions help pay for

  • Hosting and bandwidth

    Serving thousands of shop pages, the map, and reviews to techs on their phones.

  • Database

    Storing shops, reviews, pay reports, and accounts, and keeping it backed up.

  • Maps and business data

    The services that place shops on the map and keep addresses and listings accurate.

  • Development and upkeep

    Fixing bugs, adding features techs ask for, moderating, and keeping things secure.

Contributions go to Shop Rate Solutions LLC, a for-profit business. They are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible. Contributing is completely optional and does not unlock, change, or keep access to any feature.

Do I need to contribute to use Shop Rate?
No. Searching shops, reading and writing reviews, the map, and pay reports stay free whether you contribute or not. Contributing doesn't unlock anything.
Is this a donation?
No. Shop Rate is run by Shop Rate Solutions LLC, a for-profit business. Contributions are payments to the business, not charitable donations, and they aren't tax-deductible.
How is my payment handled?
Checkout runs on Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never sent to or stored by Shop Rate. Stripe emails you a receipt.
How do I stop a monthly contribution?
Use the link in your Stripe receipt email, or contact us and we'll cancel it for you. There's no minimum commitment.
